Dr. Aurelio Tijerina is a board-certified therapeutic optometrist and optometric glaucoma specialist, proudly born and raised in the Rio Grande Valley.
He earned his Bachelor of Science in Biology from the University of Texas at San Antonio and his Doctor of Optometry degree from the University of Houston.
Dr. Tijerina provides personalized, comprehensive eye care with a special focus on dry eye management, glaucoma, and medically necessary specialty contact lenses. He is also fluent in Spanish.
As a highly experienced surgical planner, Dr. Tijerina collaborates closely with Texas Eye ophthalmologists to manage surgical cases. He holds specialized training and certification in performing post-operative adjustments and light treatments for the Light Adjustable Lens (LAL), which he received from RxSight, the manufacturer of the LAL. His expertise ensures that each patient receives optimal care and achieves the most favorable visual outcomes.
In his free time, he enjoys exploring the city and playing tennis.
